1 in 3 Pets will become lost in their lifetime. Make sure your pet has a ticket home!
Louisville pets owners must license all dogs, cats and ferrets with LMAS. Pet licensing is a requirement of the Louisville Animal Ordinance. You can purchase a renewable pet license in one-year or three-year increments. You will need proof your pet's Rabies vaccination is up-to-date, to obtain a pet license.
There are four ways to license your pet
- License your pet online (Due to recent site upgrades, you may not be able to complete your application or submit payment. You can contact the business office and a clerk will contact you to complete the licensing process.)
- Download and mail-in your license
- License your pet at a participating vet
- Visit Animal House Adoption Center, 3516 Newburg Rd. Bring your pet's rabies certificate.
What are the Benefits to Licensing Your Pet?
Being reunited with your pet is just a phone call away: 365 days a year, dispatchers are on duty to help with the process. For those who find a lost licensed pet, it's your assurance that the pet has its updated rabies shots. If Animal Services finds your lost pet, we will escort it home.
