Councilman Yates seeks donations for the 4th Annual Friendsgiving Turkey Drive
Louisville – With the beginning of the holiday season fast approaching, Councilman David Yates (D-25) is asking for the community’s help to make the 4th Annual Friendsgiving Turkey Drive a success.
“We know there are many people in South and Southwest Louisville affected financially because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, there may be many more of our fellow citizens who may not be able to feed their families this Thanksgiving,” says Yates. “Once again, I ask the people of area to be generous and show their compassion to help those in need.”
Last year, the Annual Friendsgiving Turkey Drive distributed some 350 turkeys in Louisville Metro to those in need. Councilman David Yates, local entertainer Dusty Leigh & his colleagues are calling on all citizens, businesses, associations, unions, and organizations to contribute turkeys and donations to feed families in need this holiday season.
“Many times, the people of our city have come forward to lend a helping hand. At this time of Thanksgiving, let the spirit of the holiday season show those who are less fortunate they are not alone. I look forward to working with anyone who would like to help us out,” says Yates.
“I started this community-wide Friendsgiving as a way to give back. I have been overwhelmed by past years support and donations but I know we can do even better this season,” said local entertainer Dusty Leigh. “David and I are asking for everyone to consider donating something: turkeys, can goods, contributions, anything that will help make this holiday season a bit brighter for those struggling.”
